Please give me tips on how to stay organised with passwords!

I am in a complete pickle and have to keep re-setting them. Am I the only one this problem? It is driving me mad!

Do you all have some secret, sneaky trick that you can share with me? Please…

I use an app and browser extension called LastPass. It can generate and store passwords and can be used across multiple devices

Lobstercat · 07/01/2023 19:17

Password managers. I use bitwarden.

Zingy123 · 07/01/2023 19:22

I use the same password but change the last two letters for the website it's for.

With a Password Manager which has a separate method of multi factor authentication.

WaitingForSummertime · 07/01/2023 19:23

@misscupcakes if you've been using LastPass for a few years you might need to consider changing all your passwords after the very recent breach.

As far as I understand, passwords are fully encrypted so it's going to be very very very unlikely someone can get them.

I have a little notebook in my desk drawer full of passwords. Yes, I know...

TheChosenTwo · 07/01/2023 19:26

Come for me all you want but I write them down in a book!

LastPass got hacked didn't they?

I was about to look at using a password manager but I have no clue how they work and ironically, I just posted a rant about tech.

Thewildling · 07/01/2023 19:32

They’re using “password” as an example.

sunseaandme · 07/01/2023 19:33

I write all my passwords in the notes app on my phone. Very secure and hack free I know 😂

I think some of the usernames got hacked. Not the actual passwords.

For password managers, you need a really good password. I also have MFA on mine as well.

My email is not on there. I just know that one.

cakeorwine "I think some of the usernames got hacked. Not the actual passwords."

what does that mean in reality?

My brain is failing at passwords too. Just so many of them. (Passwords, not saying that I have so many brains 😂)

Apple password storage - don’t know what I would do without it tbh!

Deathraystare · 08/01/2023 15:02

I now have mine in a book, my NHS ones are also in my diary but also on Microsoft office (think it is an app??) and somewhere else but cannot remember name (great start but I normally check in Microsoft Office).

Hack that, though.

smileladiesplease · 08/01/2023 15:13

Hand it all to young twenties dds. They control us from Netflix to Amazon to Apple we just can't do this! Old and muddied 😂😂

AliceMcK · 08/01/2023 15:20

Same passwords for everything. I have a go to password, so dose DH we use them as much as we can. Sometimes I may have to stick an extra @ or # at the end. Anything that alternates for our go to passwords I usually need to reset as I forget them.

on the rare occasions I have to pick something completely different I will note it in my phone, usually with a tip for me to remember what I used, example I sometimes use old phone numbers from my childhood so I might put the first part of the street name or persons number I’ve used and add a # sign so I know it’s that phone number I’ve used, so if I used Uncle Bobs number I’d write Bob#.

Firefly86 · 08/01/2023 15:21

I do have a system for most of my important and regularly required passwords but other than that I just use the forgot password and reset them every time. Doesn't take that long usually and I don't mind. Currently using that and saving a few with my new phones fingerprint password app...

c3pu · 08/01/2023 15:25

I use randomly generated passwords that are all cached in Chrome, so they're available across all my devices.

The only password I know is the one to my Google account, and it's alphanumeric with special characters.

That was my go to way for a while but then I cleared my cache and they all disappeared. 🙈

Really, everyone is giving tips about how to hack their passwords?
