Holiday ideas for an only child family

Hi, our DD (10 years old) is an only child and I would like to go on holiday somewhere where there is likely to be kids around about her age to make friends with. We've done caravan parks in the past and have enjoyed them so happy to go somewhere like that or a hotel complex with pool and kids club etc.

I'm just looking for inspiration for places to go if anyone has anywhere they would recommend? We're in Scotland and happy to stay within the UK or go to mainland Europe or the Balearics or at a push the Canaries although that would probably be the furthest we would go. Budget wise I would rather not spend much more than £2,000 for 10 days although no idea if that's realistic if we go outwith the UK.

Any suggestions welcome! Thanks in advance.

If you budget runs to it, I'd give serious consideration to https://www.clublasanta.co.uk

Really great facilities, lots to do for everyone and arrangements in place to find other interested parties for tennis etc.

We went to Club La Santa when dds were younger and they loved it and made lots of long lasting friends, lots of whom were the only child of their family.

Neilsons is also great for activities, we literally only saw the kids at breakfast and bedtime! Downside will be the cost and they don’t have many flights from Scotland :(

Ten is an odd age as a lot of kids clubs are geared up for younger children. DS has enjoyed cruise holidays as they tend to have clubs for 8-12 age range and activities that are geared to them. Hes also enjoyed Eurocamp type holidays as although kids clubs are younger there tends too be plenty of activities he can get involved with with kids his age.
We're thinking of Nikiana Beach Clubbthis year as activities are water sports based.

@EnglishGirlApproximately Do you have cruise recommendations? Thinking of doing this next year with our 10yr old only DS thanks

@Jank8 we've travelled with P&O, MSC and Royal Caribbean with DS. Royal is our favourite but is considerably more expensive than the others, and I'm not convinced is so much better that the price is justified.
Lots of people love P&O with kids but for DS it was his least favourite as its very kids club based, where we prefer to have facilities the whole family can enjoy together rather than him go into a club alone.

MSC gets massively mixed reviews and we've had mixed experiences. In the med we loved it but from Southampton we didn't - the ships aren't really geared up for a completely British audience so the bar and pool areas are chaotic. In the med the clientele is more varied and less focused on booze and sunbathing so it feels more relaxed!
If the deal was right we'd travel with all three again.

We have 1 DC same age to yours. Looking at getting trains down to Barcelona with a stop in Nimes (bit of France and culture) before stopping at a large eurocamp site near tarragona. Can also fly there easily and apparently no car hire needed. Although we are looking at summer and would push your budget, unless Scottish school hols are earlier than England in which case you might get cheaper deals? We are looking at quite a bit more than your budget, maybe £3200ish although trying to get that down as can’t really afford it. I think at 10 a bit of culture/travel/exposure to different sights, languages and foods is good rather than just sticking with other British people although each to their own!
