Red! But I'm going for gin.

Pennyforthezombies · 07/01/2023 16:39

Dry January…

Margo34 · 07/01/2023 16:40

Red. It's winter! Who wants cold crisp white in winter?!

Emmamoo89 · 07/01/2023 16:40

I'm drinking white

HeyyyMrNoodle · 07/01/2023 16:40

Red!

SaintLoy · 07/01/2023 16:42

M&S Notte Rossa Primitivo de Manduria (red), every Saturday evening in our house. £12. Absolute bargain. Our one extravagance.

Freetodowhatiwant · 07/01/2023 16:42

I had red last night after a few days without and it was lovely. With the kids arguing I felt I 'needed' an afternoon drink (slippery slope but I followed it with a herbal tea...) and poured myself a vodka and orange and it was amazing! Pretty old school but I had both ingredients in the house and had truly forgotten how good it tasted.

Dry January…

Personal choice not compulsory

Craghopper1 · 07/01/2023 16:43

I'm having cava 🥂

MrsMitford3 · 07/01/2023 16:44

Having filet steak so red for us.

May start with a dry sherry...

DD goes back to Uni tomorrow and will dry out then!

TreacsPotNoodle · 07/01/2023 16:44

Red always 🍷

Dry January…

Surely only applicable to those who've drank their body weight in alcohol during December?

MsMiaWallace · 07/01/2023 16:47

Life's too short for Dry January

AuntieMarys · 07/01/2023 16:49

We've just had a lovely cold bottle of Chablis

BuffaloCauliflower · 07/01/2023 17:00

Oo a lovely red. I’m 39 weeks pregnant so none for me, but not long now 😂

kitsuneghost · 07/01/2023 17:00

Red. Its dark and pissing down
Don't get dry January at all. You literally start January with a drink in your hand.

DeliberatelyObtuse · 07/01/2023 17:02

A large glass of sherry (with ice) to warm me up after a long wet windy walk and then a glass or two of picpoul

QueSyrahSyrah · 07/01/2023 17:02

Red, and another one (or two) for me because we're going out for dinner with the in-laws but I'm doing dry January Sad

Dogsgottabone · 07/01/2023 17:02

I'm having a martini and then a glass of red. Then a bath and then a very deep sleep I hope.

I move on to Rose wine mid February when it's my birthday and I declare spring has arrived.

Rockingcloggs · 07/01/2023 17:03

Don't get dry January either. Surely no one (who doesn't have an issue with drink) is drinking that much that it requires a compulsory month off?!

theseriousmoonlight · 07/01/2023 17:07

I would generally always say white (I'm obsessed with sauvignon blanc) but we had a lovely merlot from a Christmas hamper so now I say red.

And then I read what @Freetodowhatiwant said about vodka and orange and I want one. Although a bloody mary might also be an option....

It's not compulsory and not everyone who takes part has been soaked in booze all December?

For me it's a bit about re-setting good exercise, eating and sleep habits, and a bit about saving some money while there's not much going on anyway (I like good wine, and good wine doesn't always come cheap).

I'll be making an exception next week as we have a wine-pairing dinner pre-arranged, but probably won't dive straight for a bottle come 1st of Feb either.

Freetodowhatiwant · 07/01/2023 17:36

honestly a little vodka and orange has been a bit of a revelation for me @theseriousmoonlight. It's so sweet and refreshing and gets you a nice level of tipsy.

I used to think that but have recently been enjoying a lovely cold crisp white wine in the evening, especially by the wood burner. Mainly because I haven't been tolerating red wine as much which I am sad about.

But I'll be having a g&t in a bit and then, despite what I have just written, a glass or two of red after yet another wet dog walk by the sounds of things outside :(

custardbear · 07/01/2023 17:41

I'm on the 'day wine' (white!) ... may break open Prosecco later though 🥳
