She already has and EHCP and extra support at school due to speech & language delay and learning delays. No official diagnoses, but we have been told she has hypermobility and low muscle tone. She is working quite far behind academically but generally enjoys school which is a bonus. There are a few with sen in her class and I feel she goes under the radar a bit because she is quite behaved and complaint. She's such a sweet girl who gets on with everyone.
my eldest is autistic and was diagnosed quite young, he likely has adhd but getting someone to listen when you have a pre existing diagnosis is hard.
I've been told Dd is not autistic. But there's definitely something not quite 'typical' and to me it's becoming more obvious as she gets older. She is 7, in year 3. Even her speech & language therapist said she is concerned and wants further referrals but no one can pinpoint what is needed. She is pretty compliant and behaved at school but can be stubborn when she doesn't want to do anything. She's quite confident and social, sometimes too confident and has a good amount of friends.
I do believe she could have ADHD though:
- her attention span is short.
- myself and the staff at school have mentioned her lack of focus and you could be doing one activity and her mind will be elsewhere. She will wander off mid reading her book etc.
- she is easily distracted by her surroundings.
- she does not stop talking, ever. It's non stop.
- she fidgets a lot
- She can get very emotional over the smallest of things but other things you would expect to upset her, so not.
- At school she struggles to complete tasks without adult support and prompts.
- she can be very forgetful. Particularly shorter term, things seem in one ear and out the other.
- she is very messy. Not sure if this is normal but she has a desk for drawing, doing her hair and homework in her room and she's got numerous things going on at the same time on her desk.
- she goes from one activity to another. But some things do keep her attention such as anything to do with slime or play doh. She is also a budding artist and she can become focused on that.
- She is displaying some signs of anxiety especially in new or busy places.
- she interrupts people talking a lot.
it is hard to know what is typical of a 7 year old and what's not.
I am seeing a big difference between her and her peers if we see them at the park with her verbal skills and physical ability (she has cross motor skill delays)
anyone With adhd girls?
