Ring doorbell

We've just got one, it picks me up going in and out. Doesn't pick up DH. He set up the account. I don't really want it to pick me up just seems a bit George Orwell, can I make it not track me?

I dont know how it's not picking him up unless he's deleting the recording straight away. You can't set it to ignore a particular person. It's not that clever, its purely motion activated.

We have one. Its a bit hit and miss on people movement, but you cant get it to film or not film someone. Only thing I can think of, as PP above said, he is deleting his videos straight away.

MaverickGooseGoose · 05/01/2023 18:35

Hmm odd. I don't think he's tech savvy enough to delete them straight away. There's no issues I just don't want to be monitored going in and out of my own house!

In the nicest way, why on earth did you get a ring doorbell if you don’t want your comings and goings to be monitored? It’s unavoidable 🤷‍♀️

I find if I've just driven on the drive and it's triggered it to record ours often doesn't then pick me up seconds later walking in the house.

Same. Theres a setting that stops detecting movement within a certain amount of time after it was last triggered. You can change this if required.

I do not understand this fashion for ring doorbells, essentially everyone spying on and filming each other. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Mmhmmn · 22/09/2023 11:37

There are laser thingies that can disable cameras, you could get someone to come along and point one at yours, play him at his own game if the purpose is to track your movements (which would be v. worrying!)

Stephisaur · 22/09/2023 11:43

No idea why it's picking up you and not him, but I believe you can set it to event response only (so it only records when someone presses the bell).

You can with the blink one anyway.

We have a camera system, not Ring, and it very frequently doesn't pick up DD leaving the house. Picks up everyone else, just not her. Always picks her up coming back in though. She has no access to the camera system app so can't be deleting recordings.

Could it be that you are approaching the house/ leaving at different angles and somehow he always ends up in a blind spot?
