Seasonal allergies - already?!

I suffer from seasonal allergies that seem to get a little worse and start a little earlier every year - mainly itchy eyes, runny nose and a tendency for my throat to close/get an asthmatic type cough on bad days. Usually calmed down by a big dose of ceterizine or Beconase at height of summer. March - November is usual time.

I swear that they started this season on Christmas Day. Onset usually feels like I'm getting a cold with a sore throat, only colds don't usually respond to antihistamines. All the usual symptoms, no sign of a bug/cold/infection developing.

Anyone else, or just me with my immune system going a bit mad?

I am feeling exactly the same. Saw friends on NYE and did a covid test, as I had developed a proper cough. I knew it would be negative, as it felt like a really asthmatic type cough rather than anything else, but wanted to reassure them. Since then, I have been sniffly, bunged up, itchy throat, slightly sore throat this morning but actually feel perfectly well otherwise. I remember last year starting early, but definitely not this early!

Tree pollen. Fir trees especially. I’ve actually seen a mini cloud of pollen burst out from a fir tree in January.

Little DD has had the onset of symptoms over Christmas that we’d not have anticipated seeing until the spring.

So it’s not just me - useful to know but sorry others are suffering too.

@Maytodecember thanks - I was trying to work out what on earth would be pumping out pollen at this time of year. Tree pollen was my original trigger over 20 years ago, but not until April. Fir trees make sense.
