Question about Duke of Edinburgh skills

DS is doing his Silver award and needs to do 6 months for the skill part. He's keen to do an online course but most of the ones he wants to do are 3 months. Could he do two separate courses (so learning 2 skills) or would it need to be just the one.

I think it needs to be one skill. Can he do a beginner followed by an intermediate?

Could he change the volunteering/physical to 6 months and then a 3 month online course? That is what my daughter has done.

You’re allowed to change once during the section. But I think that’s meant to be for unforeseen circumstances.
Can he find 2 courses that are related? So same skill area? Or do the 3 month course and then carry on developing the skill on his own?
