Sopwell House v The Grove

I wanted to book The Grove (where I have been several times before) for an overnight spa stay and afternoon tea the next day. However they no longer do afternoon tea, apparently it's been replaced with sushi in the lounge (and they don't even do that on the date I am looking at).

So I've been considering Sopwell House instead. Has anyone been there recently and how did you find it?

I went to the spa in October for the day. It was lovely, but I would definitely pay the extra for the access to the exclusive club area. Lunch was just OK, it was a Sunday and I had the roast, parts of which I didn't enjoy.

So not overall brilliant @MuddlingThrough1724 ? Did you have a treatment?

I like Sopwell a lot.

I had afternoon tea at Sopwell recently and it was lovely! Can't comment on the spa though. Gorgeous food, lovely restaurant, great staff.

@bendmeoverbackwards I did the package with a massage and facial. It had to be a pregnancy massage which was OK (wouldn't have been my first choice as I like hot stone), but the facial was lovely. I didn't use the main spa, just the clubhouse extra bit which was really nice.

What about the Grove dinner bouffet it looks amazing, book some treatments before and a dinner / stay over - so not quite a spa package but a tailored one by you.

@bendmeoverbackwards ibe stayed over and used the spa. Didn’t eat, we got an Uber into St Albans and ate there for a change of scene!
