Duolingo XP glitches

I am using the free version and have found recently that earned XP are not being added to my total. This morning I did about 80 and they weren't added. Yesterday about 70 XP I did were added and then taken away. Nothing to do with refreshing and no update on my android phone.

Anyone else have this and anything I can do about it?

Not happened me so can't help - sorry!

Just commenting to express how shit the new update is and how dear the challenges are used to be 10 gems now are 30+ gems. Also, the lack of flexibility in level choice is an awful update.

I use the payed for version and Duo tells me to read the grammar guidelines, which they have removed with the last update. And noone you can contact.
Luckily i use Babel too.
It is getting worse and more infantile with every update.

Is Babel a better app?

Yep happening to me too, which is really annoying if you are on the borderline between staying up and relegation. I did 80 XPs over the weekend, and it didn’t record them.

Until I read this I thought I must have misread the XP but now I think this has happened to me too. I was on a "double XP for 15 minutes" but it added either nothing or the single amount of XP each time. I also hate the new version - I liked to have a few topics on the go at once and pick each day what I felt like doing.

MakeItADouble2 · 05/01/2023 20:17

Well it's worse that's it's not just me but that it's happening to others too.
Ad you said @Changechangychange sometimes it makes a big difference and its discouraging when your hard earned points don't count.

I haven’t noticed this myself but will keep an eye out for it.
I know the new path has been pretty unpopular in general, but I like it. I definitely feel like I’m learning more now. I’ve noticed a difference in how well I’m able to understand spoken language and I think it’s because the content is more mixed up and unpredictable in the new path. I think before the content was divided too neatly, and that’s not how actual conversation works. It’s not the only tool I’m using but it is the main one for now. I’ve then used a bit of YouTube, some textbook stuff and some short story books and some occasional online conversation lessons.

i've had issues with some of the rewards not working. E.g. I've been at 99/100 perfect lessons for ages now, done some more perfect lessons expecting to get to the 100 lessons but never updating. Annoying!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/01/2023 12:44

Babel is not free and more based on the classical situational path.
Plus lots of grammar modules and cultural info based on the common language guide.

Duolingo I use for revision only, because learning the Italian conditional without even a hint at its structure is sensless

Firecarrier · 14/01/2023 12:35

Has anyone had the following happen...?

It has to be a glitch as it makes no sense otherwise.

I keep getting a 'question' such as on the attached screen shot but the words are already arranged in perfect order so it isn't actually asking me anything and the only thing it will allow me to do is click the green button and it then rewards me and tells me I'm doing great! Very annoying.

Am I missing some obvious fact or is this indeed a glitch?

Also, it won't accept my speech and cuts me off to say it doesn't sound right - every single time. But after a quick Google I think that may be an android issue.
