New Car recommendations

So despite me recommending our Ford Galaxy to every single person as the holy grail of cars for fellow twin mums as well as just a all round fab car for families - despite it only doing 40,000 miles it's currently in the garage having a new automatic gearbox fitted - for a grand total of £4000

Every single garage I spoke to said "yeah it's a common problem with those models" why the fuck are they still being sold???? It's not like it's a minor problem is it.

Anyway I digress, the new gearbox is a reconditioned one (yes that still costs £4k) which has a 12 month guarantee so we're looking to trade it in within the year.

We have nearly 4 year old twins and a dog - lots of muddy walks and holiday mainly in the UK but we have a roof box to use as additional storage.

What cars would you recommend? Happy to consider anything really but preference is for a crossover/suv type car - purely from a driving position point of view. I have disc problems in my back and find it easier to get in and out (previously had a mondeo estate and it felt like I was sat on the floor)

Thank you - and feel free to share your shitty ford galaxy stories

We had a 2010 Touran for 9 years /65,000 miles. Only things that needed repairs were 2 rear shock absorbers.
the exhaust system, battery, brake discs and pads were all original when we sold it.
only niggle the automatic versions do get through front tyres! Lasted 12,000 miles or so.
very good car.

We have always found Peugeot estate cars to be very reliable - good workhorses for a family that likes camping and outdoorsy stuff, and for trips to the tip.
Our family is grown up now though, so I'm not sure what the latest model is - we've downsized to a Renault Captur, which we love - maybe try the Kadjar? I've heard good reports of them too.

We have four children and a golden retriever. Our VW Sharan has been brilliant and completely reliable (unlike the lemon of a Renault Espace we had before).
