Could this be covid?

I woke up feeling a bit unwell on New Years Day (didn't go out or drink on Nye so can't be that) and have felt progressively worse since. I've got an extremely bad sore throat and a temperature- my temperature doesn't stay up though- it was down for a quite a while yesterday afternoon but was high again this morning. I don't really have a cough but am having to cough to clear my throat otherwise I can't really speak. My sense of taste isn't gone- things taste very different though- I had some chocolate (which I normally love) at lunch time and it tasted a bit bitter. I don't really have much of an appetite. One of my DC have had this cold thing that's been going around for well over a week now (they've tested negative multiple times) so I thought that was what I had but am starting to worry that it might be covid now. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms and it turned out to be covid? Thank you

Everyone seems to have different symptoms with Covid. I felt the same both times I had it but recovered much quicker the 2nd time.

so many people have various virus’ at the moment.

have you got any tests?

It could be Covid, but equally, it could be a cold, the flu, Tonsilitis, or any other virus that's going about. Drink plenty of water, take Paracetamol. That's all.

@Marmitepot I haven't had it yet so am really hoping I haven't now! No we're out of tests but my MIL has some and has said she'll bring one round later
