Back to nursery today - anyone else's DC in tears?

My 2.5 year old was in tears asking to stay at home this morning, after nearly two weeks off at home for Christmas while nursery closed. He was sobbing and had to be prised away. I feel horrible and guilty!

Just after some solidarity / handholding really! I know others will be in the same boat.

Your dc isn’t alone OP - I was the same this morning and I’m in my 50’s

Yes same here. And it was his first day moving into the preschool room at nursery too so unfamiliar as well. Awful.

Oh poor little sausage 🤗. It's horrible for you leaving them like that, but I expect within 2 minutes if you leaving he'll be arm deep in the dinosaur box! Getting stuck in to the hard work of playing!

if he's upset again tomorrow..

I think 'I know sweetheart, mummy doesn't want to go to work either, but I have to so we can xyz. Let's see if 'best friend/favourite staff member' is in today. Hopefully you'll be able to 'play with favourite toy/paint/go outside' & have a fun day and I'll/Daddy/whoever will pick you up after mat time/something specific'

blah blah blah

ribse & repeat until he's back into the swing of things.

I think they're a bit daft doing that the first day back!!

better to settle them back in for a bit & do some visits to the pre school room & once they're settled back move over.
