Will I still get the refund? I thought it odd that they were ignoring my messages. I have an overdue parcel that evaporated into thin air with Evri. The purchase was made on 8th November but the seller didn't post it for two weeks. I have the Evri tracking code that shows the item is 'delayed' but it never moves on from this & it's nearly two months now! I'm beginning to think I've been deliberately conned..Xmas Hmm

Sorry to hear that.
It happened to me, with a seller in the US. I bought a few items from her, then did a bigger order… and nothing. She didn't reply to messages and finally closed her shop. It was too late for a refund.
Crook.

Have you tried contacting Etsy? They gave me a refund after a seller failed to ship my goods and ignored my messages.
With another business I reported them to my bank as there was the option to say "something is wrong" in the app. They gave me a temporary refund and chased it with the business on my behalf.

I paid by Paypal so I'm hoping I can get a refund through them if I have to. How can you close your shop when you know there's an issue with one order? We were in communication in the beginning.

Maybe Etsy suspended their shop, it’s been a tough few months with the postal strikes and backlogs. If she’s had a lot of customers open cases Etsy may have temporarily suspended her and she’d have no way to contact you. You could try to find their social media and see if it can be resolved that way?

That's a good idea, I'll look into that.

Good luck with PayPal, they refused to help me when a seller had shipped goods to me because, even though they were completely the wrong goods (and of a lower value), they could show they had sent something in exchange for my money so PayPal thought the contract was complete. I went through my bank, they were great, they gave me a refund immediately and claimed the money back from the seller's bank.

Agree with others - this happened to me, I contacted Etsy and they refunded me within minutes.

Open a case on Etsy, unless it is too late. I found Etsy refunded me very quickly.

SunshineAndFizz · 03/01/2023 05:41

Contact Etsy, that's what they're there for.

etsy have probably suspended their shop, because rather than work with sellers who were struggling because of the postal strikes, etsy decided they would screw them all over and many people have now lost their shops and or lots of money. If you open a case etsy will refund you.

Squabbledee · 03/01/2023 11:14

Etsy have been no help but Paypal gave me an immediate refund.

yes - my daughter has lost a lot of money from people claiming for items not delivered when they were stuck in the strike - Etsy has refunded them and isn't factoring the strikes in to their decision. She closed her business in December as it was pointless - nothing was going to arrive before Christmas and she figured that she would just have lots of claims for refunds.

She has reopened now - but encouraging everyone to use other courier options.

OP - could your seller have temporarily closed for similar reasons?

Etsy are not looking after sellers at all.
