Hi all xx am thinking of booking lanzarote for December 2023
Anyone been to a specific hotel that you could recommend?
Were the pools heated , was it family friendly , food nice ??
Nearly booked one before and then checked the trip advisor reviews. Glad i did as lots of reviews said how grim it was!!

We've been for a few years running. It's lovely, you need a jumper for the evenings. The oools were cold though

Hi! I went to the Aequora Suites in April 2019, loved it, the food was great and the pools lovely. There are a couple of restaurants depending on age of kids and as my sons are older (can't remember the age limits), we ate in the adult restaurant.

There are different boards so up to you if you want all inclusive etc - we did and ate out also.

Really lovely and clean hotel/grounds and walking distance to the beach and some bars/restaurants.

Good luck in your search!

Oh and the main family pool was heated. We sat in the adult area/pool/bar sometimes when the boys were doing their own thing which was lovely ☺️

Pools don't tend to be heated in Lanzarote as a rule, as it's warm enough not to bother.
We went to H10 Lanzarote Gardens in Sept last year and loved it. Totally kid friendly but not completely awful for adults 🤣 did all inclusive, food was good, lots of choice. That one is in Costa Teguise which is a bit breezy (sometimes a lot breezy!) and as a result is slightly less developed than other resort areas on the island, which we preferred.

Lanzarote is a great choice for a sunny December holiday, 3 main resorts, Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise & Puerto del Carmen. We have been to them all, our favourite is PDC, very close to the airport, lovely shopping centre, great restaurants. All inc. is really something I would recommend in Lanzarote, most of these types of resorts are away out of the centre of the resorts. We prefer to hire a villa with a heated private pool, we usually have breakfast in the villa, sometimes bbq and then eat out. Eating out is very reasonable. There is so much to see & do in Lanzarote you will have a lovely time I am sure.

PeacheyPeach · 03/01/2023 19:51

Thanks everyone for your lovely suggestions x
@Roselilly36 can I ask were you have booked your villa through? Have you any links?

We are there right now. Hotel Costa Calero would tick your boxes. The marina is also lovely and classier than Puerto del Carmen. If you hire a car there are lots of trips you can do.

Lovetotravel123 · 03/01/2023 19:54

Booked through Jet2.

PeacheyPeach · 03/01/2023 22:40

@Lovetotravel123 your hotel looks beautiful 😍 Is it lovely and warm at the moment x

@PeacheyPeach we usually use villa plus or Lanzarote one. Much prefer the privacy of a villa. Suits our family better.

PeacheyPeach · 04/01/2023 19:33

Can I ask those of you who book a villa, who did you get your flights with ?
Just taking a look at some today and couldn't believe how expensive it was. Coming in at £4.5K ( I mean there are 6 of us but 3 of them are DC)

We use villas and book flights separately with Ryanair

There are lots of villa sites, it’s very popular especially in Playa Blanca which I think is the best resort

rookiemere · 04/01/2023 19:41

We stayed at Seaside Los Jameos , booked through a Jet2 holiday.
Pool is heated year round - was something I checked with the hotel - very family friendly, excellent food, right beside the beach. If I was ever going back to Lanzarote I'd love to stay there again.

userxx · 04/01/2023 19:52

I stayed at the H10 rubicon palace a few years ago at Christmas. The hotel was lovely, the bar in the foyer was something else!

Thelondonone · 04/01/2023 20:02

We also stay in a villa, usually booked through vrbo or booking.com. Anywhere in los mojones in pdc would be great-though it is up a hill. We prefer a villa as I’m lazy, like my own space and we can get away from each other for 5 mins.

PeacheyPeach · 05/01/2023 19:45

@Thelondonone can I ask who do you book your flights with?
Is it better and cheaper to book them earlier or more last minute x

We went to Playa Blanca Lanzarote in December 2019, it was our last holiday before the pandemic.

We stayed in Villas Puerto Rubicon - the pool isn't heated and we didn't use it, but we did use the garden/BBQ area and also swum in the sea most days. The villa was lovely and a few minutes walk from the beach and marina with restaurants, and also a large convenience store and bakery.

www.villaspuertorubicon.com/

We booked through On the Beach, which I wouldn't recommend (they don't book the flights straight away so you have a nervous few hours in case the price goes up). In future I'd just book direct for the flights. You can book the villa direct or as part of a package with various operators.

Flights, we probably booked 2/3 months in advance because we almost never book more than that far ahead, but that was mid December, not the Christmas period. We have booked as little as a week or two before, mostly using Ryanair or Jet2, sometimes Easyjet, as that's where we have the best choice of flights from Leeds, Liverpool or Manchester in that order of preference. We have quite a lot of flexibility, so will use whoever is cheapest for sensible flight times if possible.

I think if I was to go to the Canaries again between about November and April, I'd look for a heated pool if I thought I would want to use it for swimming, but realistically, we generally sea swim/snorkel/dive more and will then just wear rash/wet/drysuits as needed.

Roselilly36 · 05/01/2023 20:01

Flights are cheapest, as soon as they are released.

IcaMorgan · 05/01/2023 20:30

I stay in a 3 bed villa with pool (heated for free nov-April) and get flights with EasyJet

Twospaniels · 05/01/2023 20:43

Another one here for a private villa. Just love having our own pool and you can pop indoors for the loo or a snack and no putting your towel on a lounger at 6am!
We are going in Feb and have booked a villa with Airbnb and flights with Jet2.
We always stay in Puerto Calero which is near puerto del carmen. PC is a bit more up market.
We hire a car and tend to go out and about in the morning, get lunch somewhere and then spend the afternoon by our pool before going down to the harbour at PC to eat dinner.

GuineaPorcus · 05/01/2023 21:34

Just booked for 2 weeks over Easter. Private villa for a week and a week half board at the H10 Rubicon. Had pre-COVID vouchers to use so booked BA flights in the sale, worked out £400 each.

Trying81 · 05/01/2023 23:19

We’ve booked Hyde Park Lane 2 Bedroom Villa - the reviews look great, private heated pool but can also use the facilities which include a larger pool and splash park etc

Found the prices best with easyjet holidays although Jet2 have some dates with free child places also
