DH has a cold, it’s just a not v nice cold. But he’s ‘lost heart’ doesn’t know how many weeks it’s going to go on for and sighing heavily.

I’ve had a bath, gone upstairs to read my book and am now gently flicking the vs at him while he mutters in the hall.

I also have the cold…..

I just ignore and carry on my day.
Any moaning and whining voices is given a sharp shut up.
Any requests for anything gets told they haven't lost use of their legs.
I'd make a terrible nurse.

Karwomannghia · 02/01/2023 22:29

Tell them to go and take it easy in another room upstairs in as sympathetic a voice as possible- at least they’re then out of the way.

UWhatNow · 02/01/2023 23:52

They only do it if they know you’ll pander to it. So don’t pander to it.

Stressybetty · 03/01/2023 00:02

Yeah whenever I'm ill or feeling rough (I have M.E) DH always has the same! He still acts and eats as normal so it then appears like I'm the one moaning.

KateBalesCardi · 03/01/2023 00:21

If he's usually like this then discount what I'm about to say but we've all just had a nasty cold (wider family and some friends as well as our household) and lots of us have noticed it seems to have come with a side order of impending doom. There was a thread on here with lots of posters saying the same too so far too many overall to be a coincidence, it does seem to be a (slightly bizarre) actual symptom of this particular virus.

Suprima · 03/01/2023 00:24

I’d take myself off to bed and out-ill him.

then reconsider my relationship with someone who perpetrates the idea of man flu, because I couldn’t begin to shag someone who lurches around in a dressing gown, moaning, at the first sign of a snotty nose

sorry I know this a lighthearted thread, I just find man flu an absolute resentment breeder

MyMachineAndMe · 03/01/2023 00:25

I'm the one who gets the deadliest of all the deadly flu viruses whilst the rest of the household gets a mild cold. Dh just lets me complain whilst basically ignoring me and taking the piss out of me. I know it's annoying and I try to rein it in but I am really bad (or really good, depending on how you look at it) at being poorly.

He has, of course, donned the Dressing Gown of Doom.

The doffing area is over there --- ->

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

BarrelOfOtters · 03/01/2023 07:53

It’s the pyjama trousers of doom and disreputable T-shirt of despair…

thanks you’ve cheered me up.
