Anyone else dreading the return to work (if you've been off over xmas),

Back tomorrow. I've been off since Christmas eve. So horribly short staffed, I've been ill for weeks, stressful job, colleague tensions. Really making me feel sick to think about it so of course instead of preparing for the day ahead I'm procrastinating and wasting time.

Yup definitely in the same club as you.

I have scanned my email to make sure there's been no emergency in my absence. That helps me feel slightly more prepared for the day.

JanuaryBluehoo · 02/01/2023 21:57

Yes.....deep breath and hand hold everyone..

Hate this feeling.

WhatLikeItsHard · 02/01/2023 21:58

Me 🙋‍♀️

I've been off sick and dreading the back log of stuff. And the alarm going off at 5.45am 😩

OnemoresliceofChristmascake · 02/01/2023 21:58

I quite like it when I am there, and I do work that really makes a difference - however, I would much prefer my current lifestyle of relaxing and have been a bit secretly grumpy about it all today. (Plus I promised myself I would use the time off to get organised both at work and home and absolutely didn't!)

Bemyclementine · 02/01/2023 21:59

I haven't looked. I wfh for about 10 months from the first lockdown, with dc (then just 3 and 4) now though, it's against policy to allow wfh with children. We actually have to provide proof of childcare so I havent dared to log on.

Can I handhold too. I feel quite anxious about it all. I've had such a relaxing couple of weeks and it will be very full on tomorrow. Horrible feeling.

Me too. I was ill with Covid for the last week of the year and I am shit scared about catching up tomorrow morning.

I want to run away 😩

terriblepotato · 02/01/2023 22:00

I don't mind my job but can't be arsed with having the same conversation about 'did you have a nice Christmas?' over and over again! Hate small talk at the best of times.

hashbrownsandwich · 02/01/2023 22:00

Same here - frontline NHS, I love it most of the time once I'm there but the thought of it fills me with dread.

Bemyclementine · 02/01/2023 22:01

@OnemoresliceofChristmascake yes, I feel the same to an extent. And this afternoon the dc were on my last nerve. So it will be nice to have a break from them but often there's more squabbling at work than home, not to mention abuse from some clients.

I love my job, it makes me smile every day but even I'm not looking forward to going back tomorrow.

I'm still in that 'limbo' stage when I'm not even sure what day it is, then I remember I still haven't sorted my work clothes for tomorrow.

Danikm151 · 02/01/2023 22:02

I’m actually looking forward to sitting down at my desk and having a break from my2 year old climbing all over me and using me as a bouncy castle 😂

10 days out of routine and he’s ready for nursery too!

SilverGlassHare · 02/01/2023 22:02

Me. I’m not actually back for a couple more days but I was off for a couple of weeks before Xmas because my dad died, so it’ll be nearly a month since I was in by the time I get back. I know I have almost 1000 unread emails waiting for me - hoping I can file/delete a lot of them.

Bemyclementine · 02/01/2023 22:03

@hashbrownsandwich I feel for you. I deal with a lot of 'frequent attenders' and clients with a variety of complex needs (health, MH, substance misuse etc)

I feel sick. I can't tell you how I longed to win the lottery all over Christmas...

TrentCrimm · 02/01/2023 22:05

I'm not dreading it completely, it'll be fine I'm sure.

But... I've had two weeks of doing nowt much, grazing on stuffing and chocolates, watching crap telly and having a wine with my snacky bits lunch because It's Christmas.

This is going to hurt.

AtSomePointInLife · 02/01/2023 22:06

Same here, off since 22nd December. Had so many late nights, lie-ins. Lounging around watching films, playing Xbox with the kids and eating my weight in chocolates.

I'm one of those people who hadn't a clue what day it was last week.

Tomorrow is going to hit me in the face when that alarm goes off, I'm just dreading it 😭

TrentCrimm · 02/01/2023 22:06

Ah sorry, didn't mean to sound so flippant when other people are really stressed about it Flowers

wineandsunshine · 02/01/2023 22:09

I'm dreading it too - I love teaching but at the moment it's so stressful.

Really wish we had won the lottery over Christmas!

Campervangirl · 02/01/2023 22:10

Me too, absolutely dreading tomorrow, I wfh some days but got to show my face in the office tomorrow, I know it's going to be a shit show.
I actually feel sick at the thought of going in.

Eastie77Returns · 02/01/2023 22:12

Dread is an understatement. New super keen manager who has already put in a 1-1 to discuss my personal development plan for the year ahead. I genuinely feel like crying.

ivfbabymomma1 · 02/01/2023 23:01

Office admin here... been off since 16th dec!!! I like my job and I'm still dreading it. I want to live in this little bubble forever!! :(
