Can anyone give me advice on housing?

I’m currently on Band A for a 2 bedroom property but I just found out I’m pregnant and before I speak to the council does anyone know if they will put me on band A for a 3 bedroom property? I already have 2 sons (11 & 8)

I just wanna know if anyone has been in the same situation as me or if anyone has any advice. Thanks 😊

Depends some councils don’t class them needing until x date so best to check your own council policy like if you are only a few weeks gone my council wouldn’t class
your baby as a person

Shelter is probably your best source of advice.
My understanding is that children under 2 are expected to share with their parents so I would say no but Shelter can tell you for sure

I thought you wouldn't move bands (if at all) until the baby was born and that there was a period where the baby was expected to share with parents?

What are you on about? I’m in a 2 bed house now with my 2 children and husband. We are on band A due to medical needs. I never understand why people like you sit at home judging when you don’t know anything about me. There’s no need for your input if you can’t help.

I thought when you said you were band A for a two bed that you were on the waiting list for a council house and were either homeless or in a private rent.

gamerchick · 02/01/2023 22:00

Probably not. You're expected to have the baby in with you for a few years.

Disclosurehelp · 02/01/2023 22:13

Not until the baby is born and only if it's a girl

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/01/2023 22:15

Your application / profile won't change until another child is born. So you will be housed on existing need for current family only.
