Anyone know how to watch a Sky movie on a Samsung Smart TV ...

... without subscribing to Now TV?

The movie is available for hire on SkyStore, so could potentially be watched on a laptop, but we're away and want to watch it on the tv if possible. Googling answers to the same question online suggests its not possible but I didn't find an official answer, so maybe a Mumsnetter will tell me otherwise!

I'd try this too. Disney, Netflix and Amazon let you screen mirror (Now TV doesn't in case info's good for anyone else), so there's a good chance Sky will work too.

Could you hire the film from another provider like Amazon, Rakuten etc and then watch it by connecting your laptop to the TV? That's assuming there is no Chromecast with the TV where you'll be staying ?

No, it's a Sky exclusive unfortunately.

This sounds promising, but the tv in our airbnb was manufactured in 2014 and doesn't seem to allow it. I'll try it on our newer model at home though.

I assume that you are a Sky subscriber at home then? For normal Sky Programmes and films I would say play it on Sky Go on your Laptop and connect the laptop to the TV where you'll be staying. But I am not sure if Sky Store items are available through Sky Go?

Doesn't seem to be possible on a Samsung tv as they have no commercial agreement with Sky

No. A subscription isn't necessary for SkyStore. Anyone can rent a movie there.
