I know some of you might be looking to book holidays soon, I have lived in the Algarve for 20 years, so if you have any questions I’m happy to help if I can.

I’d love any advice on a family hotel with stuff to do nearby but not in the most touristy area, would love some local charm if possible. Any tips?

Did you relocate from the UK or elsewhere in Europe? We are looking into the possibility of an international move but are worried about disrupting the kids 11&9… Portugal is on the possibility list along with Switzerland!

@EmmaMY we moved from the U.K. - it was much easier in those days!

@hongkongmum The less touristy areas are to the east of Faro, eg Tavira, Cabanas, Fuseta, Olhão. I’m afraid I don’t know of any particular hotels in that area.

Alternatively the far west, eg Burgau, Salema, possibly Martinhal?

It can be either lovely, or wet and windy, it’s very difficult to predict
