White lids

Is it just me or has anyone else been fooled by the white lids on the milk?

Spent ages searching the worktop for the lid only for ds to look at me as if I was mad and say, "You mean the lid that's on the milk?!" I have just been tricked again, trying to pour some into my tea, wondering why nothing was coming out until I saw the lid was still on.

I know I'll get used to it but I didn't realise how easily fooled I am!

Gets me everytime. They should do an advert showing different people wasting precious time looking for the cap.

Still confuses me in the shops. It seems like there’s been some conspiracy between all of them to change it but I don’t know why!

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 01/01/2023 17:36

Ah just had a quick google - it’s so they can be recycled as the green ones couldn’t be. Good thing!

BarbaraofSeville · 01/01/2023 17:37

It'a to make them easier to recycle. If the lid is the same as the bottle, it doesn't need separating/better product quality.

It is a bit disconcerting, but we'll get used to it.

I can definitely put up with it if this is the reason

Spent ages on Christmas Day looking for the bloody lid what was already on the carton🤷‍♀️🤣
And my autistic so won't drink any milk if it's not a blue lid so I've had to save a couple for when they change them all 😩

Emmamoo89 · 01/01/2023 17:41

No thankfully full fat milk still has a blue lid

RudsyFarmer · 01/01/2023 17:42

Yep. I said the milk was missing it’s lid to the cashier a few months ago thinking it had fallen off and they just looked at me like I was crazy and tapped the invisible/see through lid.

fancyacuppatea · 01/01/2023 17:44

I thought the manufacturer had run out of green ones. 🤷‍♀️
Makes it harder to choose the right milk from the shelf.

So can I. I never thought about it being about recycling. Still annoying though and am glad it's not just me being caught out!

Yes searched everywhere and it was on the bottle. To the point i said to 17yo omg please just find me a lid.
Eve if f out the top of the bin, as knew id binned one 15 min b4 when doing cereal . And put in hot water.
He did that then went to put it on the carton for him to say mum you're a tit. The lid is on there!

And its not the only time I ive searched for

CharlotteStreetW1 · 01/01/2023 17:52

I dropped one on our patterned floor and my late 50s eyesight stood no chance in finding it. Had to sweep the floor to find it.

wherearebeefandonioncrisps · 01/01/2023 17:59

You what now? What's going on... am I missing something?

SkylightSkylight · 01/01/2023 18:04

Oh, this is new news to me. I only buy milk occasionally for visitors, so I'll start keeping some blue lids!!

thanks.

I don't know when it changed.

I suppose it shows how much you get used to things. I felt a bit of a div when dc's friend said today that the lid was on when I was trying to pour it 😂

My milk has still got a red lid on it, bought a couple of days before Christmas. Is this a very recent change? Or just one particular supermarket?

OneFrenchEgg · 01/01/2023 18:15

I thought dh had bought some weird 0 fat milk then realised. And yes I searched for the damn lid.

PuttingDownRoots · 01/01/2023 18:46

It took me a while to find it on the supermarket in October as my brain was looking for green lids. My regular supermarket hasn't swapped yet but I expect I'll adapt after a few weeks. I managed Ivinghoe abroad with different milk bottles...

uncomfortablydumb53 · 02/01/2023 00:08

Yes, I've been caught out trying to pour the milk in only to realise the lid is still on the bottle!
I'm very short sighted and have cataracts as it is!!

I don't know; I have some blue milk from the Co-Op with the blue lid on, and some green milk, I think from Tesco, with the white lid on.
