Child sweating at night when cold

Has anyone else experienced this with themself or their dc?

My ds who is 7 went to bed fine and with no sign of any illness. I went to check on him a few hours later and his hair was soaked with sweat and his pillow was wet. I felt his head which was cool and so was his back. Usually if he has a fever I can feel it before even touching him.

He's still asleep now and his head feels a bit clammy.

I will let him sleep as long as he needs to and see how he is when he wakes up.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and was it a sign an illness was on its way?

Thanks

I had tonsillitis a few weeks back and had that at night too. I was so confused I thought it was perimenopause, but they stopped soon after.

Gave it to DP and DS, so def not peri!
