A New Years Eve song mystery…

This is going to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack but here goes!
Im trying to find an female artist whose album I listened to constantly for about a year and I can’t for the life of me think what her name was or what the album was called. I can’t even remember the year apart from I was pregnant so it was either 2004/5 or 2010.
Can’t even remember the songs at all apart from there was one on there that my Mum loved…she passed away on Boxing Day and I would love to be able to listen to it again.
I have a feeling she was English and maybe had 2 first names…but could be completely wrong. It’s not Corrine Bailey Rae but that sort of type of Music not massively popular like Little Mix or Adele.
I’ve spent all night searching Spotify but have no idea what I’m looking for!
I also think the album cover was black and white maybe!
Does that ring any bells with anyone?

Any lyrics at all?!

EmmaAgain22 · 31/12/2022 22:59

Katie Mehlua?
Norah Jones?

Google "female artists 2004"
Etc and whole lists of singers will appear.

Nelly furtado?

mrsconradfisher · 31/12/2022 23:00

Nope unfortunately not…it’s like my mind has gone completely blank. I’ve got this image of driving up the road with my Mum singing next to me but I can’t for the life of me remember anything other than that.

KT Tunstall, Eye to the Telescope album?

mrsconradfisher · 31/12/2022 23:03

Nope but thank you both. She’s less well known that those artists I seem to recall because no one had even heard of her when I got the album (which is probably what’s making it so hard to work it out!)

I’ve tried that too…it’s not on there so I wonder if it was less popular than that.

Me too!! I’m having such an awful day, I’ve had to clear out lots of Mum’s things and registered her death yesterday. Trying to work out this album is stopping me thinking of how awful this past week has been.

Imogen heap?

MrsHemsworth · 31/12/2022 23:11

I was going to say Avril Lavigne 'Under My Skin'from 2004 but she's pretty well known so it probably won't be her. The only other one I could thunk of is Laura Marling 'I Speak Because I Can' from 2010. Both have black and white album covers.
