Fireworks

Am I in a different time zone to the rest of my neighbours? By my reckoning it is about 10.00 but it sounds like WW3 has broken out. All I can hope is that they run out of fireworks soon and don’t have any left for 12.00 .

Happy New Year to everyone who isn’t letting off fireworks.

That was unexpected!!

I thought the sentence was going to end with something weather related.

Oh what a lovely story!

Thanks for sharing 😃

We have them for different time zones as our neighbours are from different nations. I love that and it makes total sense.

Beachsidesunset · 31/12/2022 22:22

Yep, just had a barrage at 10pm that woke the baby. Gits.

I thought she meant 'virus' and imagined she was sat there cursing her autocorrect 😂😂😂

So 10 is your Lithuanian and thereabouts people. NYE time zone spotting is one of my favourite things about it.

HaggisWurst · 31/12/2022 22:26

We've them since 6. I have to keep going to resettle my toddler 🙄 I know it's Nye but we've had them for the last three nights so I'm a bit of a grump!

Splonker · 31/12/2022 22:27

My new neighbours chucked a few £100 worth up in the air at 8pm. I don't mind because it was spectacular & I had a ring-side seat.

Ah,that makes sense…….

Loved the walrus story , I will wish hard for a walrus to be washed up in my neighbourhood for next year……

Imagine if there's a child in Scarborough who actually asked Santa for a walrus? I imagine they'd be pretty dumbstruck today! Xmas Grin

crossstitchingnana · 31/12/2022 22:49

My dog is so stressed as they started at 7:30. Fucking ridiculous.

ChubbyChinook · 31/12/2022 22:52

Started about 5pm here just as it turned dark. We have had to decamp to a remote layby as the dog has now had enough and all our distraction methods are no longer working. One hour at midnight fine, 7-8 hours of fireworks is ridiculous. What happened to the cost of living crisis?! 😠

crossstitchingnana · 31/12/2022 23:06

My house is now a war zone with all the stuff she's broken and knocked over. Happy new year ffs.

Tara336 · 31/12/2022 23:21

Dick head neighbours set off a load at 10.30 my dog was absolutely terrified it was so loud! DH didn't cover himself in glory by screaming at the neighbours that it's 10.30 and that they are selfish knows but I guess he feels better and they have now stopped

Signed. I honestly wish there were only noiseless or very low noise fireworks - or that the general public had to have a licence to buy them for a display. There's absolutely no need for them to be so LOUD!

I was once trapped in a takeaway shop (quite a small one) while youths outside threw bangers in and blocked the door from being opened. It was terrifying. The owner ended up letting us into the living quarters until they'd gone away.

Happy to sign. I think it should be organised displays only as no one seems to be courteous and warn their neighbours of an intention to set fireworks off, idiots setting them off at all hours and not to mention the impact on domestic and wild animals
