Black 40 denier tights with open-toe platform heels?

Is this going to be a major fashion no-go?!
I've got a shirt dress for NYE tonight, I'm hoping to wear with gold platform heels with a peep-toe. It's SO cold and I've also got the palest legs ever so I was hoping to wear some black, sheer tights under the dress.

DH thinks it'll look ridiculous and I'd be better going bare legged..

What do you think?! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Technically, it's a fashion no-no I think but I rather like the look. I think it has to be proper thick black tights though.

The only other shoes I've got at the moment are heeled ankle boots. I don't think they'll look very good together

Thick black tights with gold shoes is somehow more stylish (to my eye) than black tights and black, brown, or tan shoes. It feels a little 'disco' and that's surely a good thing!

Of course it's fine! It's a look I've always liked anyway but is actually "in" this year so double win for me! It does need to be properly black tights though.

I think the problem is that the tights are not fully black but also not skin coloured.. they're quite sheer 🫠🫠

I love this look, especially with gold - it's actually a really stylish choice, as long as the sandals are platform and chunky! Go for it!

Go out and get some properly black tights and I think it’s fine. A supermarket, chemist- tights are easy to find! The sheer ones though, can’t imagine that looking very good at all.
