Saxenda question - repeat prescriptions

Prettyreindeer · 31/12/2022 07:28

What happens when you want to repeat the prescription, but due to already using it for a while and it working, you have slipped under the BMI threshold?! I am wondering what happens to those who get halfway to their goal so they are under the required BMI at the time they need a further prescription?

Also, if you order online, do you need to provide proof of your current BMI? What checks are there?

Thanks

Interested in this myself as I'm looking to buy! Have you already started?
I know if you get it from Lloyd's pharmacy you have to pick it up inshore and they weigh and measure you. Perhaps boots too as they have a very collaborative approach to their weightless programme.

I'm looking to get it from simple online pharmacy.co.uk but I haven't put an order in yet.
Do you not have that much weight to lose? My BMI is currently 31 so I qualify but I'd never thought about refilling my prescription again once I dropped below the threshold but still wasn't at target weight!
I could do with losing 3 stone but I'd settle for 2.
Could you order 5 pens when you get close to the bmi threshold and give yourself another 5 weeks weight loss?

I’m using ozempic from mybmi and from what I understand you can continue until bmi is normal ie 24, weight is self reported online
my target bmi will be around 26- down from 31 to 27 so far

They ask for updates on weight loss, photo of you and photo of the scales proving your weight

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 31/12/2022 10:27

I don't use it anymore but was never asked for scale photos with the pharmacies I used (that's easy to fake surely?) but I do wonder if it's wise to continue using when you are at a healthier weight.

IDontCareMatthew · 31/12/2022 10:33

Well yes it's all easy to take. It was Asda doctor online who asked for those details

IDontCareMatthew · 31/12/2022 10:33

*fake

Thanks all. IDontCareMatthew, once the order is approved do you just simply collect and pay, or do they weigh you again at the pharmacy on collection? I don't know but I've heard other places might do this. I wouldn't like to be weighed in front of someone like that.

Also, how do you deal with the sharps element? I understand you can get a sharps bin but where are the contents disposed of?

I'm starting Ozempic on 5th and I asked the same question.

Apparently you can still get it when you're under the BMI minimum but they adjust it so you have a maintenance dose.

IDontCareMatthew · 31/12/2022 18:40

No you don't physically get weighed
Asda delivered mine and boots I just collected from the pharmacy

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 31/12/2022 19:39

Burwash / Chemist4U / expresspharmacy are all ones I used. Online consultation (a form), postal delivery.

so you didn't speak to a human or have to prove your weight?

I wondered how else it was done.

Im a nurse who is trained in aesthetics so I can just buy it from the pharmacy I use for Botox but I still had to get a prescription from a prescriber but it meant a video consultation.

Is that not necessary?
How much did you pay for it all? Sorry for all the questions!

Onthecuspofabreakthrough · 01/01/2023 11:40

I honestly don't remember, about £50 a pen I think but was a couple of years back.
There was a detailed online form to complete that was it.
I don't really understand the proving your weight stuff being a big concern though, I think anyone who uses it without a high enough BMI to get it is mad, it's serious stuff.

LindaLyndell · 02/01/2023 10:03

I order mine through Boots and I've never had to prove my weight to anyone, just about to order my 3rd lot
