what helps itchy scars?

healing from a major operation, and the scars are itching madly - The stitches are still there, but dissolving. I'm sleeping in gloves to prevent myself accidently scratching in the night. I'm taking anti histamines. Any other suggestions? Thank you for anyone reading and replying

Bio Oil around the scar, but not directly on it until the stitches are gone.
