Hot water bottle leak

purpleme12 · 31/12/2022 01:53

I bought a hot water bottle as a present for Christmas from Sainsbury's
No I don't have the receipt, perhaps stupidly.
And it's leaked! So pissed off
If I bring it back and say this, does anyone know would they give a refund or exchange?

You’ll get a refund as not fit for purpose. Should be straightforward.

If you haven’t got the receipt they will most likely exchange or refund onto a gift card, they won’t refund the cash if you don’t have the receipt

Not true if it’s a brand only sold in Sainsbury’s. There is no question that it was bought there. Consumer rights act says refund due if not fit for purpose. They might TRY to offer a gift card but you can stand your ground.

When I look it up it's sold in Argos as well
Does this make a difference?

You can go and try customer service desk
realistically you could of bought it elsewhere
did you pay on card as they will accept that as proof if purchase

try for an exchange
without proof of purchase for a non exclusive product you really don’t have any rights

If it's a Sainsbury's own brand they should refund. You'll have it in your bank statement if it's a card payment

Sainsburys and Argos are owned by the same company so they often sell the same brands/products across the two stores. Habitat soft furnishings being an example.

Ask

purpleme12 · 31/12/2022 13:43

Ok.

@rwalker when I look it up I can only see it sold in Sainsbury's and Argos so I don't think I could have bought it elsewhere.

I'll go in. So disappointed cos my child loves this one
