We invited couple A for tomorrow evening. Long term friends, spent several NYE together etc. Now also thinking of inviting couple B (I’m 90% sure they’d come). A and B know each other, as do kids. Should I run it past A, or my house and I don’t need to.

I would run it past A but try and read into their reaction as they may not feel comfortable saying they would prefer not with it being your house. I do like to know if the dynamics are going to change.

We're invited to friends tomorrow evening. It's usually just the 2 families together on NYE. If my friend wanted to invite someone else I think she'd run it past me beforehand. It's her house, I wouldn't object of course, but it'd be nice to know of the change to the mix.

I would definitely run it by A - it's common courtesy imo, unless when you invited them you mentioned "getting a few people round" or similar. I'd potentially be slightly off put arriving at a friends for an evening to find unexpected other guests, especially as just knowing each other doesn't mean they want to spend an evening together!

You should run in past friends A or at least give them the heads up.

Definitely run it past A. “I’m thinking of inviting B along tonight - what do you think?”

Thethingswedoforlove · 30/12/2022 22:23

Most definitely run past A. You just don’t know how they might feel about it.

LadyWithLapdog · 31/12/2022 09:14

Thanks, I’ll do so (DP didn’t see an issue).

@LadyWithLapdog what happened?

LadyWithLapdog · 01/01/2023 22:44

Haha. A said yes and B said no! So much for my confidence 😂
