I just heard about Andy’s diagnosis of Stage 4 prostate cancer, thought I’d have a look at Mumsnet to see if anything was mentioned, and came across your thread from years ago, OP.

To answer your question, yes, one of my best friends was/is a diehard Andy fan. He’s her absolute favorite. I’m a lifelong Simon fan myself, and he looked as good as ever when I saw Duran Duran in Brooklyn, New York in April 2016. My sister, my mom, and another best friend were huge Roger fans.

Growing up in the U.S. Midwest in the early ‘80s, my friends and I had never experienced anything like Duran Duran. We were in our early teens, our hormones were raging, and along came these five good-looking young Brits with floppy hair, cute accents, and the most exotic videos on MTV.

I always felt that Andy was, though not to his band mates, overlooked and underappreciated. I’m glad he's able to witness Duran Duran’s well-deserved induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and I truly wish him and his family and band mates all the very best❤

I’m so sad to read this. Worked on one of their shows the year before this and he was the one who looked most healthy so what an absolute blow. Bloody hell

He’s been dealing with this for four years and we’re now finding out about it. Every time I hear of something like this happening to someone from my youth, I feel a piece of my history being taken away.

I saw him in concert with Duran Duran a few times and once with Power Station. It’s cool that you got to work on one of their shows.
