High fever for 12 days and counting

So like a lot of you I have got the dreaded flu/covid/god knows what virus that's going round.

Mine starred with aches in my legs which progressed to full body aches I couldn't actually stand straight it was that painful, I've had and still got this hacking barking cough to the point I bring up green phlemgy 'aliens' my snot is luminous green and I have sinusitis on top of it so been given antibiotics for that. I have only been feeling a teeny weeny little bit better today in that I've been able to do a load of laundry and change the bed.

My temp has stayed at a consistent 38.5 sometimes higher sometimes slightly lower, the only that helps with that is Beechems all in one (tastes like Jager 🤢) I've had this temp for 12 days and counting, surely it's not good having a temp that high for this many days. I'm getting concerned about the temp (and everything else but we will focus on one thing at a time right 😅)

Oh and a new symptom is I apparently piss my self when I cough too much now (only started today) I am done in. I just want to get better, I've spent £40 on 'supplies' from amazon to be delivered tomorrow, ranging from complan to disposable gloves!

What is this virus? Its horrible 😞

Could you possibly have a chest infection too? I'd contact your GP again. The antibiotics for sinusitis might not knock a chest infection out.

I had this once - sinus and a chest infection. Needed clarithromycin for the chest as amoxicillin for sinusitis only cleared that up. I had a high temp all during that time.

AftersomeAdvice234 · 30/12/2022 17:14

Surely if you’ve had the temp for that long you should be taking yourself into urgent care?

it sounds horrible but I would be worried there is another issue - I hope you feel better soon though

Get well soon OP. I was sick recently for weeks between virus and secondary infections. Ruddy awful.

I've got the same bug OP, I'm currently in my 4th week. I've now lost most of my hearing 🙄

Not recently but I have had a temperature that long with flu in the past

Dancingonthemoonlight · 30/12/2022 17:39

@MontyBoston I've had my chest checked at least 8 times and each time they tell me it's clear and it's all in my sinuses

@AftersomeAdvice234 I've been to GP and local MIU unit (doubles up as urgent care) several time, the urgent care basically told me to go home and rest its viral, everyone else in waiting room has the same thing etc and the GP gave me antibiotics for sinusitis but said it may not work as its 90% chance of it being viral and not bacterial.

I've told my partner that I'm calling 111 tomorrow and if they want to send me to hospital to tell me before they Send a paramedic as il be waiting another 10 hours (already been through this and they just told me to go to the GP didn't even offer to take me to hospital) so he can take me there instead.

Sound like what I have. Diagnosed flu by the GP which progressed into a chest infection. Antibiotics are now done and I’m feeling a bit better but still poorly. Nearly 3 weeks in now!

I've had my chest checked at least 8 times and each time they tell me it's clear and it's all in my sinuses

That's what I was told back in January 2020 after my amoxicillin for sinusitis. Turned out I had walking pneumonia - they couldn't hear the crackles on my chest.

I'm not medical though. Might be the viral illness lingering?

Whatever it is I do hope you get well soon. It's just miserable
