Facebook Marketplace posting items

I have seen a necklace on Facebook Marketplace. The seller is only in today till 5pm and it would be a 90 minute return trip for me to collect. It would have been easier for me to go tomorrow as I was seeing a friend in the area but the seller is out.

The seller looks like a dealer and said he could post to me. He has said he would give me his address as a back up. Do people genuinely post things on Marketplace? I don't want to get scammed in case he never sends it. He has no feedback either but claims he sends things daily in the post so may sell elsewhere.

Some people would post things. I’ve had things posted before. But it’s been cheap stuff that I’ve been willing to lose the money on in the first place.

I sell and post all the time, and buy and receive through the post. Pay by PayPal goods and services, pay the fees on top and then you're covered it doesn't arrive. Pay for tracked postage.

I occasionally post things on marketplace if the buyer can't collect. I'm sure there are some people that would take advantage but I'm not one of them so I'm sure many others aren't either! If you do go down that route, use PayPal as I believe it offers buyer protection (the seller does need to pay an additional fee to PayPal so I always ask for this to be covered by the buyer so I'm not losing out).

As PP said, ask for a tracking ID to bd provided too, I always give this to the buyer when I post. Royal Mail is more expensive but offers tracked and signed for options to protect both buyer and seller. 😊

Only agree if you can pay via PayPal goods and services NOT friends and family.

It's pretty standard to post on Facebook marketplace.
