What would you do with 4 pints of whipping cream?

I have a flagon of whipping cream that needs eating. Any ideas??

I'm considering an indulgent rice pudding and I'm also nostalgically thinking about buying some brandy snaps.

Any other ideas?

Had exactly the same dilemma this morning and am drooling over the smell of garlicky dauphinoise as we speak (also has a thinly sliced fennel bulb in there 😋)

Make ice cream

Chug chug chug! See it off!

  1. Whip some
  2. Make custard/creme brulee
  3. Make a nice creamy pasta sauce
  4. Dinner sorted.

also, hot chocolate with whipped cream.

It needs to be whipped before it's frozen.

Ice cream!

RosesAndHellebores · 30/12/2022 11:18

IME cream doesn't freeze well.

I second the dauphinoise for something savoury. One for today and one for the freezer. Love the idea of finely sliced fennel in it BTW. Or two for the freezer.

Very rich cheese sauce, mixed with milk, for freezing for cauli cheese, lasagne.

Creme Brulee
Trifle with egg custard and topped with cream

Churn into butter and freeze for cake making.

A carbonara or Alfredo sauce for pasta. Yum!

Cookerhood · 30/12/2022 11:29

OK Ill say it. Carbonara doesn't have cream in! (However it makes a yummy sauce).
I think cream freezes better if whipped, but I may have imagined that. I would definitely make butter, it's expensive at the moment, you can freeze it & it will definitely get used.
