There are 2 times a year I change things, January, April & September; anyone else?

January is obvious, New Year's resolutions

April is the start of the tax year

September of course is back to school (I'm 54! And not working in education fgs!!)

Is anyone else the same?

What do you change, then?
I need tips as I would like to make some changes. How do you make the changes last/stick?

IglesiasPiggl · 30/12/2022 08:09

I do like September for a time of change as it will always have that "back to school" feel. Other than that, though, I just make changes and fresh starts when the moment is right. Not usually January though, as I find that a sluggish, hangover type month - I think it's the overflowing bins and dead Christmas trees on people's driveways that put me off feeling ready for change.

Luckydip1 · 30/12/2022 08:11

I find May at the start of the summer is a good time for change.

pigsinoodies · 30/12/2022 08:12

Yes, I was just thinking I must wash my sheets soon.

Dogsgottabone · 30/12/2022 08:12

I usually diet in May and June so that I don't look awful at all the end of term shindigs I have to attend at DCs school.

So that's a resolution of sorts.

Dogsgottabone · 30/12/2022 08:14

I often diet in January too as my birthday is 6 weeks after Xmas and I hate feeling fat on my birthday.

I love January though so it's not a depressing thing for me. I have dogs so am always out rain or shine.

I don't really make any other resolutions.

Byfleet · 30/12/2022 08:16

I am the same OP.

But I don’t understand your thread title. It’s 3 times a year, not 2?

GoodVibesHere · 30/12/2022 08:26

Ooh is this a 'how often do you change the bedding' thread Grin

But really I'm not sure what you mean, what things do you change? I do put away my winter clothes and bring out summer stuff but that's only once a year and not until about April/May as I tend to be cold.

Luckydip1 · 30/12/2022 16:34

Do you only wash your sheets twice a year, I do mine every two weeks...

KatyMac · 30/12/2022 23:05

No not quite resolutions (& definitely not sheets, I have a man for that!)

More restructuring my life, moving furniture, even changing jobs - I got married in January, engaged in September

This January I am restructuring my business and refurbishing my workspace; I am considering a side hustle but I'm not convinced

I dont really diet or have summer/winter clothes & I definitely forgot to proofread the title 😅

I don't really change anything, ever. What am I supposed to be changing?

Oblomov22 · 30/12/2022 23:08

I do Dry January. Suppose that's 1. Other than that? Nope.

KatyMac · 02/01/2023 00:14

This is what triggered this thread - I analysed how I use my workspace

I'm having a major restructure with my space

The idea is to streamline, currently
Room 1 = mannequin & fabric storage, cutting, iroing
Room 2 = sewing, haberdashery & fabric storage, consultation
Room 3 = Fabric storage, mannequin storage, cutting, consultation

Fabric is sorted by type/source eg curtains, bedding etc

Plan
Room 1, not used all work stuff removed
Room 2 = Sewing, cutting, ironing, haberdashery & mannequin storage work area
Room 3 = Just storage & consultation
Fabric sorted by colour(in the main specialist fabrics by type)

I feel more in control

Just worked out both house moves have been in September too

sorry to go off in a tangent but do you still make costumes for your beautiful daughter?

watchfulwishes · 02/01/2023 00:23

I do in Jan & Sept but not in Apr. I always like a new calendar, diary or similar to plan the future.

Always, she also models for my business

She came up with the idea that I'd pay her for modelling, I came up with the idea that she'd pay for her costumes and clothes - so we both do it for free!!

I'd have sent you some pics but pm doesn't do pictures anymore

I love this thread. There are two times I change things too. Jan, August and mid autumn

I guess April is the tax year?
