With hindsight (I didn't know it was 'a thing' at the time). when I was menopausal I really lost my confidence, yes.

How old are you? Classic peri symptom

SnowOwlWise · 30/12/2022 07:01

Mid 40s

Yes but think it's been creeping rather than sudden (maybe pandemic related?)
-Social circles feel different- I'm on the periphery sometimes by choice but sometimes because I seem to have been out there because I work a lot and can't make certain things...now I question myself more than ever before meeting up (am I wanted / liked/ cared about/ do I bring value)??
-My looks are different and I don't compete with beauty standards- fine in my own home- really obvious with peer groups when people discussing procedures/ fillers / Botox / treatments etc- am I alienating myself by not joining in? Do they think I'm judging them because I don't 'get' it?

  • Parenting is harder with my kids at the ages they are. Often feel crap and unsure due to teen drama, tantrums and push back.
  • Relationship with husband is hard work (mainly due to his work stress that he can't handle very well) and I can end up feeling pushed away / ignored/ distant

Also mid-40s

I look back at my 20's/30's where I was pursuing so much and it gave me drive and confidence. No idea what to strive for now (well inner peace and confidence- but how?!)

Could be peri - get checked and on hrt if needed. Will help to get your mojo back. Otherwise a bad work situation could effect your professional confidence, which can seep in to your personal life - assess if it can be improved or if it's time to look for a new job.

Sadly yes

Make an appointment with your GP, could be menopause related, I used to be a very confident person, a lot less so since going through the menopause. Anxiety is a symptom too. I have seen GP as I have some other symptoms, waiting to hear whether HRT will conflict with my other meds, once GP has heard back from Neurologist, hopefully she can start me on some treatment. Good luck OP.

KangarooKenny · 30/12/2022 07:38

Yep, mid 40’s due to peri.

Yes a few years ago when I was maliciously targeted and accused of FII. I nearly lost my children it was harrowing. The point that shattered my world into pieces and destroyed all my confidence was when I got my subject access request back and saw that so many ‘professionals’ had outright lied or used gossipy opinion and presented it as fact it made me physically Ill I won’t ever get over the shock

SnowOwlWise · 30/12/2022 08:32

What is FII

Thing is I don’t think I can take hrt

very scary at this age when everything seems to be happening is due to peri menopause and it seems as if hrt is the golden ticket for everything
but you can’t take it for medical reaosnsb

There are herbal options too OP. I am currently taking Menopace. I have a Mirena coil so I am covered for progesterone but GP is trying to find out if I could take estrogen as she thinks the migraine with aura that I am experiencing daily are due to lack of estrogen. Good luck.

What is FII

Fabricated or induced illness (basically a new term for munchausens by proxy)
Thank goodness when it finally got to a social worker she ripped the whole case apart (school nursery and school nurse had been meeting for nearly a year and compiled a report) we had to have a child protection investigation but she went right back and started herself at the beginning speaking to all the consultants to get facts not the rubbish that had been made up but I do always think what if we hadn’t had such a switched on sw

FestiveDove · 30/12/2022 10:54

Yep. Been getting steadily worse. It’s affecting everything - work, home, being a mum. Some days I just want to be invisible.
