Agony from coughing

Just a mini rant really. I have had this horrendous flu type illness that has been going round - got it once with an awful cough. Then it went for a week and then came back much worse than before. In the first stint I coughed so much and for so long that I (I'm guessing) pulled/bruised muscles on my right side between my ribs. I then had a massive coughing fit and I literally felt my side rip. I have honestly never felt pain like it. I was a mess crying in absolute agony, unable to move or breath properly from it hurting so much. Then it went away. Then this stupid illness came back and it's back again 😩. I'm so sick of it. It feels so debilitating. I am aware I sound like a massive wimp but I'm just so fed up!!! Has anyone else ever done this before?! I don't know anyone IRL who has done the same. Mini rant over 🤣

I had the similar. In the end I went to the doctor and he told me the pain was a lung infection. Please get checked out if it is ongoing. A round of antibiotics made a huge difference and I'm slowly mending.

Just offering sympathy. Have had the same and although haven’t had the horrific incident of pain you describe it’s got to the point where every time i cough the area round my ribs hurts. It’s absolutely horrible.

Another vote for get it checked. A friend had this kind of thing and it turned out to be pleurisy.

@Theyearsareshort oh goodness that sounds horrible!! I will definitely keep an eye on it but I'm not sure it's in the right place for my lungs...@DieDeutschLehrerin I'm sorry about your friend, I hope they got better. @Petronus isn't it rubbish - it gets me so down!! Sorry you're suffering too :(
