How long to leave it before posting a parcel with Royal Mail?

I have some presents to send to a family member.

With all the problems with RM I didn't want to risk it before Christmas.

I know of a lot of people who still haven't received parcels posted end of November.

They generally sort the new stuff before the backlog, so although there's no guarantees I'd send it tomorrow if 1st class/24 hr, or Tuesday if 2nd class/48 hr.

Does it have to go RM? I'd send it with Evri.

If you buy postage online and choose the 24 or 48 hour collection service (they collect from your door) then it is tracked and prioritised.

I ordered a gift on 23rd December (didn't realise it was coming via royal mail) for a relatives birthday in January it arrived today along with a john Lewis order I ordered on boxing day. Its an unknown I think.

Choose either Special Delivery or Tracked 24 or Tracked 48. We have to do these every day (I’m a postie.) First and second class are bottom of the pile (ok not strictly true…….leaflets are bottom of the pile). Signed for is a waste of time.

Ours seems to be catching up again now, we have had a load of Christmas cards turn up in the last couple of days.

Sent a parcel from France to UK last Wednesday and it was delivered yesterday. Since brexit all packets are tracked, don't know if that makes a difference. Seemed quite fast.

Their house/address is a strange one and I know RM have delivered there before which is why I want to do RM
