I know this is really boring but PLEASE can anyone recommend foolproof clingfilm. I’ve just spent another battle wrapping up Christmas leftovers I want to throw it out the window it gives me such a rage! I’ve tried so many brands - Tescos, Sainsburys, B&M, Aldi etc. Don’t mind the cost as I’m wasting so much. This would really make my day sad as that sounds😟

Yes ,once you've got it out and applied it ,it will cling .

ouch321 · 29/12/2022 21:45

Is it for covering half finished things in the fridge?

If so, why not just use foil?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/12/2022 21:46

Perfectly. It just makes it easier to catch the end and control the bastard stuff.

Foil seems so wasteful

Thanks next lot is going in the freezer do you just keep it there full time?

Slimjimtobe · 29/12/2022 22:09

hate Cling film .. grrrr

In laws use the catering stuff in a chunky plastic box, very strong.

DO NOT buy the eco biodegradable stuff. Doesn't peel or cling, more delicate than a butterfly's wing. The only redeeming thing was I didn't feel guilty chucking the practically full roll in the bin as I knew it'd rot down.

Powerplant · 30/12/2022 09:21

@ouch321 it was for leftovers and for packed lunch sandwiches. I have used foil before but it seems extravagant lol. Definitely going to try keeping in the freezer before I get to Costco for a new roll.

Whereas single use plastic film is not...? 😂😂

Sainsbury's sell a really cheap "wrapping foil" by House 247 that is a very thin foil. That's probably better than cling film as it's reusable to a point and recyclable. Plus it doesn't stick to itself and only itself. It's in a bag rather than a box.

Well yeah both are but foil seems substantial so worse. I will have to see if I can research which is better. I guess if you wash it foil can be recycled?

SoupDragon · 30/12/2022 09:49

I genuinely have no idea which is worse. Clean foil can be recycled though (our kerbside service takes it with glass/cans/plastic). If you're only using it for wrapping sandwiches or covering leftovers it's not going to be very dirty anyway.
