PFB anxiety (light hearted!)

My first DD was born just 6 days ago by CS and as a mumsnet reader I was well aware of the phenomenon of PFB and the madness it invokes in new mums.

Since I was discharged two days ago, I've been hit by "new mother anxiety" about everything. Luckily I can see it's mostly all irrational, but highlights include:

  • the cat is waiting for me to turn to light off so it can attack my baby
  • my baby will forgot who I am if I let them have a cuddle with anyone else
  • when I wake up I panic search for my baby (always perfectly safe!)
  • my baby's hands will drop off in the cold

So, in the vein of lighthearted responses, what recognisable anxious thoughts did you have with your PFB, especially in the early days?!

I can't remember, to be honest!

But I just wanted to say congratulations on you new baby. 6 days... how lovely 😊

Thank you so much. She is a bit gassy tonight hence I'm up on MN!

And I'm not sure it's an 'early days' thing.

Mine is 18 now, hence I'm awake at 4am Blush
The mums with older kids tell me this part is easier for them!

I remember googling ‘what happens if a baby doesn’t poo, ever?’

I think it had been about 24 hours…

Gosh I used to wake up in absolute blind panics multiple nights a week for those first few months absolutely convinced that the baby was deep under my covers and unable to breathe. We didn't cosleep and I was so careful that he of course never was, but I can still remember the visceral panic I felt until I realized he was safely asleep on his cot. It's only years later that I've realized loads of friends had the same thing - I just thought that I was going quietly mad!

Love this, definitely having poo consistency anxiety 😂

@octoberfarm yep definitely ticking that box, even though I'm not co-sleeping either!
