Am I right that you don't pay between Christmas and new year?

I believe it’s 365 days now :(

EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 00:34

The TFL page says no charge between Xmas and New Year

tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge

this is restated on their xmas travel page - see "Driving"

tfl.gov.uk/status-updates/major-works-and-events/christmas-and-new-year-travel

I think there was a suggestion of 365 days a year though.

primeoflife · 29/12/2022 00:36

Thanks, I had googled and got mixed messages but if it says on the TFL page hopefully it'll be ok.

I don't want to go that far in but my usual car park is now in the new zone which is a right pain. Trains are all replacement buses so that's not an option either.

I didn't know the congestion charge had started to cover a larger area. Sorry to ask but are you sure? There's so much going on with traffic.

It says the LEZ is operating 365 days a year which might be why I had something in my head about it.

primeoflife · 29/12/2022 01:00

@EmmaAgain22 Westfield Stratford is now in the zone unfortunately

Are you sure?

the map for CC is here

I know "Eastfield" as I call it, is in the expanded ULEZ. Or will be. But I would double check, I'm 90% sure it's not in the CC zone.

PatriciaHolm · 29/12/2022 01:22

Westfield isn't in the congestion charge zone - see map linked above.

It is in the ULEZ though, which is charged every day other than Christmas Day .

Oh I'm confusing the two things. That makes sense of my google which I didn't understand! I thought it was all the sane thing.

When I last drove down I didn't have to pay anything.

Thanks for clarifying

And I've just checked and don't need to pay for my car!!

Great, glad that's sorted.

now, back to why they didn't call it Eastfield... 😂

🤣🤣🤣

You could park near a Central line station and get the tube in. It's difficult enough for buses around there, never mind finding a car park.

primeoflife · 29/12/2022 10:12

@LlynTegid I don't usually have a problem parking there? Has it changed much since I've last been? I can get the central line from there too can't I?

OP posts:
EmmaAgain22 · 29/12/2022 10:54

the car parks are still there?

primeoflife · 29/12/2022 21:27

Back home!!

Oh my goodness Westfield was mad, took me 30 mins to park but handy for the central line and a bit of shopping on the way home.

Thanks all for your help.

Hooray! Did you head to Oxford Circus area? Was it very busy in central London!

@MaggieFS yes! We did Oxford Circus then walked to Trafalgar Square. It's the first time I'd seen the gifted tree so that was nice.

Then after some mooching around shopped at Westfield. Was just a nice day which the teens enjoyed too.

Was very busy (no idea why I'm surprised), although tubes were quiet 🤷🏼‍♀️. Thankfully Westfield had calmed down by the time we returned.

Thanks @primeoflife I'm thinking of taking the DC on Saturday morning.
