Special birthday meal in London, preferably breakfast - tight budget

It's DC's 21st birthday tomorrow and we're visiting London, so want to do something special. But neither do we have lots of money to spend.

Is there anywhere we could go that would feel different or special for older teens but not break the bank? We're thinking under £100 for 5 people, maybe breakfast, but open to other ideas. Is this utterly unrealistic?

Dishoom. Love their breakfast

RaininSummer · 28/12/2022 23:18

I was going to say Dishoom too.

MissSmila · 28/12/2022 23:18

Thanks - will Google

A Dishoom breakfast might fit the bill? There are several branches to choose from.
Happy birthday to your DS!

Dishoom - bacon naan and chocolate chai is my favourite treat in the world

www.regencycafelondon.com/

this is a cafe for a fry up - not special as such but featured in several films and tv shows so if your DC are into them it could be special for them iyswim. Definitely within budget.

Duck and Waffle is lovely too

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/12/2022 23:20

Dishoom a good call if you can get in. Go for the bottomless chai!

Otherwise Mildred’s do delicious and cheap breakfasts, if you don’t mind vegan.

SnackyOnassis · 28/12/2022 23:20

Definitely Dishoom, but if you can't get a table, Bills does a great breakfast at reasonable prices. There are a few around town depending on where you're going. Have fun!

For tomorrow without a booking? Eek go early

jjemimapuddleduck · 28/12/2022 23:21

We had a wonderful breakfast here recently for my son's 18th birthday breakfast. So friendly, wonderful atmosphere, lovely setting and great menu! We went to Fitzrovia (Soho):-

The Alchemist...there are half a dozen dotted about depending on what else you have planned.

We did dinner and cocktails at Bevis Marks recently for DDs 18th and it was great.

blahblonk · 28/12/2022 23:24

for lunch you could try Wahaca Southbank, but do try to book. Nice view and fun location, good deals on set menus to share

MissSmila · 28/12/2022 23:24

Googling furiously here. Most of us would love the Dishoom breakfast but one of the teens is a bit fussy. Might be able to persuade him to the bacon naan roll, but will look at more trad breakfast options too.

Caffe In, in Mayfair is a nice place, does amazing Turkish eggs, staff very friendly.

MyBuggyIsOutToGetMe · 28/12/2022 23:28

Try The Breakfast Club. Several branches and includes very traditional fry ups through to pancakes and smashed avocado. I’m not sure they take bookings - you may just have to turn up. But it used to be very good (haven’t been since Covid).

Greybutterfly · 28/12/2022 23:38

The ivy Liverpool Street is lovely but may struggle with the £100 for 5 people

TwoPointFourCatsAndDogs · 28/12/2022 23:42

Try one of The Ivy group restaurants.

MissSmila · 28/12/2022 23:48

Which is the nicest Ivy, do you think? We are in SW London tonight.

Another vote for the breakfast club! Has the 'cool' factor for teens, it'd hearty and good value

MargaretMead · 28/12/2022 23:54

Lola’s bakery in West Hampstead - near the tube / train station, and an extensive breakfast / brunch menu.
