ExH and I have always had the agreement that he had DCs between Boxing Day and when schools go back as his office shuts and I work for the NHS so don't get that time off.

I'm in a new role and only started 2 months ago.

Except there's an inset day next Tuesday and exH is adamant he has to go back to work (despite the fact that he can and does WFH with the DCs).

In typical fashion for hinges now maintaining radio silence and obviously waiting for me to sort it as I invariably do. I have asked at work if I can have the day off if needed and my manager has said yes but part of me thinks why the fuck should I because he can't get organised.

And by taking the day off I'm just doing exactly what he wants as it means he doesn't have to step up.

We've been separated 8 years and he has ALWAYS pulled shit like this. I'm so tired of it, and tired of being the bigger person, but ultimately someone has to step up and look after the DCs. I'm just so fucking bored of him being as difficult as possible.

How old are the DC? I presume at least 9?

For the sake of an easy life, I'd probably take the day off and count my blessings that the DC are very soon going to be old enough to take care of themselves.

Taking 1 day leave over the whole Christmas period is a better deal than many parents work with. Having said that, it must be tough working in the NHS right now, so I understand why you feel aggrieved that he has yet again caused a difficulty just because he can.
