When sometimes you don't get any responses from a Post

I'm only in my 2nd week of participating in MN so please accept my apologies if this is a subject that has been discussed to the point where you all groan 'oh no Not this again '. Just wondering what the general feeling is when sometimes you have zero comments from a Post you're eagerly awaiting to read responses from ...

just depends on the topic & timing I think. I have had lots of posts that are ignored or 1-2 responses & then others that have ran for days.

They can't all be winners OP Grin jk...you get to know when the best time to post is and where to post if you really want responses. For example, chat is fairly active in the early hours if you just want some company to chat to. Conception was always busy first thing because everyone would POAS in the morning! General health is always good and helpful but AIBU is the busiest board and you'll almost certainly get numerous helpful responses if you need quick advice on which HCP you need to see or that kind of thing.

I had one earlier this year that originally got 0 responses; it must have been about three weeks later that someone replied, then I got five or six responses, so not huge but it was better than it being ignored completely. It was something chatty rather than urgent advice being needed.

If you haven't had any replies after a reasonable interval, say a few hours, it's OK to 'bump' your thread.

I tend to be more of a thread killer, so I'll comment and then no-one will comment after me, not even the OP Blush

Squeakybits · 28/12/2022 20:36

@Eggsley not this time 😀

I think a lot comes down to when you post. I am the first to admit I normally look at active threads (or whatever it is called on app). If it does not appear on my active list I do not see or post on that thread. It has nothing to do with the topic or poster. Please do not lose heart. Mumsnet.com is a fab place.

I saw a few of those 'guess the gender of the baby from the scan' posts and didn't want to hijack an existing post so created my own... no responses 😭 I was very disappointed as, of course, I was too excited and wanted some opinions to pass the time before my 20w scan where (hopefully) gender will be confirmed.

I guess it happens, especially with those kids of posts where there are just so many!! 🤷🏻‍♀️
