Just that, we only have one space and need to put both in, can you stack them?

Watching with interest as I would like to stack a tumble dryer on a freezer. I've come to the conclusion that at the least I would need a sturdy shelf to put the tumble dryer on

No. The heat from the tumble dryer will affect the efficiency of the fridge. I got a new fridge freezer recently and the instructions tell you not to keep it near a source of heat like a tumble dryer or washing machine.

It’s generally ok to put tumble dryers on washing machines with a frame to hold it.

The heat from the TD surely would be a problem for the fridge

Fridges/freezers should not really be near something generating heat - ovens/tumble driers/radiators etc.

I would say no. I had a tumble dryer in a cupboard and the quantity of heat given out into the space was considerable. The laminate floor underneath was very warm after it had been running for a while.

My tumble dryer has been on top of a freezer in the garage for 8 years, never had a problem.

Is there anywhere else you could put the TD? Ours is currently in the study as there's no room for it in the kitchen or utility room.

Speaking as someone who works for a whitegoods manufacturer, you should not put anything on top of your fridge.
You should also have a minimum of 5cm gap between the top and sides of your fridge and any units they are under/beside. This is to allow ventilation and to stop the appliance overheating/breaking down.

People often put nick nacks on top of their appliances if they are not under units, which isn't ideal, but no you should not put a tumble dryer on a fridge, due to the fridge needing yo keep food cold and the tumble dryer getting very hot.

Even if you where to put a dryer on top of another appliance (a washing machine for example) you would need a proper stacking kit to ensure correct ventilation and that the dryer doesn't vibrate and fall off.
