Does anyone else feel done with Christmas by now?

Its just struck me how long the period between Christmas and New Year tends to be. I'll admit I'm at a bit of a low ebb, lost my Dad in October and it would have been his Birthday today.

My DH works shifts, I do some work between Christmas and New Year, kids are pre-teen (almost 13) and teen, so dont want to do much. Most of my friends have family, ours are at the other end of the country. I did see my Sister and family for another funeral the week before Christmas. Just so bored tbh and I can imagine its only going to get worse as the kids get older. Know I have things to be grateful for, just finding it all a bit tricky. Seeing all the exciting things everyone else does on facebook and obviously (like so many other people, although you would't think it it from facebook), not loaded so cannot make loads of expensive plans.

Sorry about your dad.

Yes to your question. I have a sort of enforced leave (our office closes) although not all of my clients do so I have to do an email check once a day on the working days.

So am just about to do that now then don't know what I will do. Took dd out yesterday to get something very specific with her Xmas money. My 2 are also early teens and most of their friends are away so they are flumping round the house refusing to get dressed.

We were going to drag them round the local NT place with promise of a cake but it's pissing down. So I don't know. Only so many films/tv programmes/board games

Op I'm so sorry about your dad. I think Christmas seems to be a struggle for a lot of people.....the atmosphere feels flat. I'm not enjoying it as I get older 🙃

My plan is literally to 'do' tomorrow and the usual buffet Boxing Day and then I'm quitting as mum till New Year's Eve!
There is so much food in this house I figure if the kids 12/18/23 can't fend for themselves I've failed as a mum 🤣

This is what I shall be doing too.

I hate those days between Christmas and new year, I don’t really celebrate new year though I do look forward to the kids going back to school/uni and things returning to normal. I usually take the decorations down a couple days after Christmas.

Im looking forward to tomorrow and it being over 🤣
