National shortage of sugar free strepsils?

Is there a supply issue or has the whole country just currently got sore throats?

cant find them in any physical shop, not Boots, not chemists, no supermarkets, just empty shelves. Even online boots are sold out. I ordered from an online chemist and they cancelled the order.

I guess with all the Strep A panic, they've been bought up by the bucketload?

I got some in B&M yesterday.

I’m resorting to salt water gargling as I can’t get sugar free Strepsils (sodding diabetes) but there’s a lot of folk with sore throats at the moment, a pain in the arse but no great tribulation.

I've had a nasty sore throat for a fortnight. There's a lot of it about. I do have Strepsils although I don't know if they're sugar free.

Have ordered Chloraseptic from Amazon which should be delivered today 🤞

@justasking111 Tyrosets were the top tier of throat lozenges. Alas, I think they contained a topical antibiotic so I’m not too surprised they’ve gone the way of the dodo!

I got given an unbranded chloraseptic. Had forgotten how good it is.

I used to love some throat lozenges with local anaesthetic in? Dequacaine? Not seen them for ages either. Don’t know if sugar free strepsils actually do much, they don’t seem as effective as they used to but I think just sucking something helps. Dh had a suggestion when I said this 🙈. I’ve sent him out for wherthers originals to go with the Difflam spray.

I've also heard Difflam is brilliant but nowhere to buy it round here at the moment.

Difflam is good but I gag when I use it which puts me off.

DH always has a supply of Jakemans that we take the piss out of him for. We will never do so again since the rest of the house has been ill and he has kept us in steady supply!!!

Our chemist sell Jakemans.

Clove drops sweets also good.

Vapodrops are pretty good.

I’ve been to 3 supermarkets and 2 chemists today. No strepsils of any sort and worryingly I can’t even see labels on the empty shelves for the sugar free ones (I can the others), so hope they haven’t stopped making them.

i got the last pack of Sainsburys own version strepsils (not sugar free), and also some sugar free werthers originals.

no other throat medicine such as Halls or the sprays left either. Never seen the shelves so bare.

I saw Strepsils in a Co-op yesterday - I don't know if they were sugar-free or not. Difflam do lozenges which are pretty good.
Dequacaine lozenges are not made any longer, more's the pity!

Yes, the werthers originals are helping. Also got some Twister ice lollies. I’m exhausted, was coughing so much last night I was being sick and weeing myself at the same time!

Boots have now got some online so I’ve ordered some.

Well I had the impression that everyone on Mumsnet had gone down with flu/Covid/Norovirus etc etc so a shortage of Sugar free Strepsils would not be at all surprising.

I haven't got a sore throat (touch wood) but have some lockets just in case as people all around me have sore throats and coughs. I also like those sugar free swiss herbal thingys.

Lidl had strawberry sugar free Strepsils in stock at my local store today.

My dad went to Morrisons for me (I've got covid) and they had ONE bottle cough medicine left out of every type and brand
No throat sweets at all
He ended up going to my local garage and getting some there

Gargle with soluble aspirin… game changer for me
