I've hardly eaten much today but had a bit of blue cheese on crackers can the mould make you ill?

Have you eaten blue cheese before without feeling ill?

Perhaps you are just ill with or without eating cheese.

I haven't eaten blue cheese for about 20 years I don't remember it making me feel ill it came on about an hour after the cheese

If you've barely eaten all day, that's probably what's making you feel sick.

SabbatWheel · 26/12/2022 22:07

It can do, I have a mate of mine whose skin reacts badly to blue cheese, it gives them a really dry, flaky face.

TwoMonthsOff · 26/12/2022 22:08

I’d say it could, it’s rich and teeming with bacteria if your digestion is unused to it

Bard6817 · 26/12/2022 22:10

I’m used to a bit of blue cheeses, but i have had one time where one made me i’ll. Not 100% sure it was that, but im 99% sure.

I am a bit wary of it now, only eat what i buy myself.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 26/12/2022 22:15

I love it but it can upset my tummy sometimes. I think it just doesn't agree with me if I overdo it rather than being off iyswim. Same with goats cheese.

dontgobaconmyheart · 26/12/2022 22:15

Potentially, though it's generally safe to consume. The mould is deliberate after all.

It would certainly make me feel sick I have to say, it's rank. One of those things I always want to like but (to me) tastes and smells like it came from the bin.

kingtamponthefurred · 26/12/2022 22:24

It has never made me ill and the mould is not toxic to most people, but I suppose you could have an allergy to it.

NewMoonPhase · 26/12/2022 22:46

Mmmm blue cheese.... 😋

Feeling a bit better today but going to give blue cheese a swerve for the rest of my life!
