I am currently researching 02 contract options and they have this on their website. Am reasonably well-educated, but I cannot understand it after staring blankly. Is anyone able to break it down into plain English?

Save up to £320. Ends 28 Dec.

*Each year your Airtime Plan will be increased by the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation announced in February plus 3.9%. If RPI is negative, we’ll only apply the 3.9%. You’ll see this increase on your April 2023 bill onwards. See o2.co.uk/prices.

Which bit do you want help with....the handset price calculation, the contract increase calculation or the call cost info?

DorisHatt · 26/12/2022 20:25

Honestly, all of it. I don't understand what it means when it says "save up to 320" but it starts with the Airtime plan information.

I have tried to understand it, but it is a struggle so I'll just leave it I think!

It is badly structured. The save 320 refers to what you could (theoretically) pay for the handset.

It’s £5 a month off the usual monthly plan cost for 36 months - so £180 total saving.

And then a separate £140 off the cost of the phone itself.

Shamoo · 26/12/2022 21:45

(That said I suspect both are already baked into the cost you are being shown. The handset is going to cost you £1005.40.)

Boooooot · 26/12/2022 21:45

Which but don’t you get?

WickedWangoCard · 26/12/2022 21:54

I'm really pleased to see that someone's read the contract, doesn't understand it so isn't going to sign it. Well done OP! So many people just sign them anyway and then complain that they can't understand why they're paying something different to what they expected!

Agree that it's not particularly clear, though.
