Hello, I posted this 3 weeks ago but got no replies so hoping more people will see this here.

Is anyone's children having this weird sore tummy thing?

My wee one is 5, and for weeks now has been complaining of a sore tummy.
Just below their belly button. It comes and goes, usually around mealtimes. But not always. Sometimes they stop eating but then start up again and finish the meal.

Not complaining of sick, just sore.
Doctors have prescribed Omeprazole for reflux/ heartburn and we are 3 weeks into this. No mention of sore tummy initially but mentioning it again the last couple of days.

Tonight she's shivering/goose bumps but no temperature, not eating very much at all, tired, and headache. Mentioned feeling sick for the first time today. No rash. Sore throat on and off too.

Other things to note- they have had a rough term at school, chicken pox, tonsillitis and various other bad colds.

Will try to phone for an appmnt at the doctors tomorrow. She's not super ill, just not 100% right, and hasn't even for a while now. She just never seems to be able to shift it.

Just wondered if there was something going round? Long covid?

Thanks for any advice.

I’m not medically trained so reluctant to answer on these things… but I didn’t want to read and ignore. I hope you get the answers you need soon. One thing I have noticed in younger kids is that they often say they have a tummy ache for anything they are feeling. Covid did pop into my mind as well but it seems to be everyone’s first thought nowadays. There’s a lot of bugs going around this time of year sadly.

UTI?

I did hand in a urine sample when I went to the docs previously, it was clear, I could drop another one in though. Thank you for replying

Hhhmmm, thank you, maybe it is this, I'll get a sample in the morning and drop it down. Would like to get some answers once and for all!

Pain beneath bellybutton usually = constipation.

if you feel her tummy can you feel it? It’s basically the colon going r-l across beneath the naval-you can feel it if it’s full of faeces.

Thank you, but she doesn't seem constipated. She's pooping as normal. I'll have a wee feel of her tummy in the morning to check, thanks for your advice
