I know it's all dependent on a lot of things but I'm months away from being able to get quotes. So just being curious to how much you paid?

It's separate living room and diner I want to knock through into one room.

Is it a supporting wall and how big is it? This will be the difference between a couple
of hundred and potentially a couple of thousand.

Non supporting, 3m wall cost us £300, if it needed an RSJ it would have been £1,500

I don't know 😳

I'd be happy with a sort of archway rather than the whole wall removed.

The wall itself is about 2.5m tall and about 7m wide

Why don't you phone now and get some quotes. You may be pleasantly surprised 😊

I am assuming it’s brick rather than plasterboard. Can you lift up the flooring and floorboards above to get an idea of if it’s supporting. If the joists run parallel to the wall it’s less likely to be supporting but not a guarantee.

Kitchen and dining room knocked through 3 years ago. Paid £1050. That was just for the building work. Didn't cover the plastering, electrics, painting, new kitchen etc.... Total cost of project £29218.13....

Paid 2k (inc vat) to a local one man guy. Included rsj, blocking a door, plastering and sorting the floorboards. So just painting needed.

had to compromise on size of knock through so the one man guy was insured to deal with the steel (and could get it in) but bigger companies wouldn’t touch it. Still looked ace.
