I don't watch it and just caught the end - how was it snowing so hard he nearly caught hypothermia but then nothing in the village 🙄

Bosk · 25/12/2022 22:40

It's always been utter cobblers.

terriblyangryattimes · 25/12/2022 22:44

I'm with you. We're at the in laws and she put it on, I'd never seen it before. Apparently the older lady who kissed the Doc had previously been in 'the nut house' for being infatuated with him. Is it always that schmaltzy and twee? Or did they push the boat out for the last ever episode?
The couple with the birds... What's their history?

someonecookmydinnerplease · 25/12/2022 22:51

I've never watched it but when I was in Cornwall earlier in the year I did go to the village where it's filmed. Beautiful place. Had some lovely mussels sat out side the pub right on the harbour front.

SamBeckettslastleap · 25/12/2022 22:53

Bah humbug!

It's twee escapism. 'Stewart...'

PandoraRocks · 25/12/2022 23:28

Love Doc Martin! Much better than that sentimental crap Call the Midwife which I watched tonight. So bloody twee. And Port Isaac is gorgeous.

KnickerlessParsons · 25/12/2022 23:32

Doc Martin is the funniest programme on TV IMO, although I didn't think the last series was up to scratch. There are so many good characters in it - Bert and Al, Mrs Tishell, Joe Penhale the policeman, Morwenna....
I love it.

thelobsterquadrille · 25/12/2022 23:35

Aw, I used to love Doc Martin but I've not seen him for years!

DH did some work on Martin Clunes' house once and said he's lovely!

Bluevelvetsofa · 25/12/2022 23:35

Each to his own

The story lines get a bit ridiculous at times, but I love the location and the characters. I always feel that Louisa has a lot to put up with.
